WHO: Quest for a Cure is a registered not for profit organization raising funds and awareness for cancer treatment in the National Capital Region.
In the spring of 2000, Ottawa firefighter and adventure racer Jim Andrews was diagnosed with cancer. Following his surgery Jim was referred to the Ottawa Hospital Regional Cancer Centre for care. Since then, a close friend, adventure racing team-mate and fellow firefighter, Mark Johnston, has also been diagnosed with cancer. It was from their shared experience that the Quest for a Cure was born.Race mission: to raise funds and awareness for cancer treatment and prevention
Race Goal: to promote high quality adventure/sport fundraising events that challenge competitors both physically and mentally, while increasing awareness of cancer care in our community.
Race Reward: is the knowledge that 100 % of all funds raised support the world class care and treatment provided by the Ottawa Hospital Regional Cancer Centre.
DISCIPLINES: Mountain Biking, Hiking, Orienteering, Canoeing, Rappelling, Ascending, Zip-line, White Water Rafting and In-Line Skating
RACE: 240km, 48 hours starting at 16:00 (4pm) Friday June 20th. Teams will be transported to race start location prior to the 16:00 start time |
